The Gigantes (“the earth-born”) or Giants (Greek mythology) were a race of giants borne out of the battle between Uranus and Kronos. They were the sons of Gaea and Tartarus (Protogenoi). Nereid veya Nereidler (Νηρηΐδες, Νηρηΐς) Yunan Mitolojisinde Deniz tanrısı Nereus ile deniz tanrıçası Doris’in sayıları 50-100 arasında değişen kızları olan denizde yaşayan su perilerinin adıdır. Bazen su yüzeyinde eğlenirken görülen Nereidler, babalarının yanında bir sualtı sarayında yaşamakta, çoğunlukla deniz tanrısı Poseidon’a eşlik etmekte, sirenlerin tersine denizcilere karşı dostça davranıp, fırtına sırasında yardım etmektedirler.
